Trade Fairs in Spain 2027: Key B2B Shows by Sector

Last updated: October 2026. Dates checked against each organiser’s official website; editions marked “to be confirmed” had no official 2027 dates at the time of writing.

Planning which trade fairs in Spain 2027 to exhibit at? Spain is one of Europe’s strongest trade fair markets, with two world-class venues, Fira Barcelona and IFEMA Madrid, and a calendar that runs from ICE and FITUR in January to MWC, Infarma, Seafood Expo Global and Vitafoods in spring. This guide brings together the key B2B shows by sector, the latest market data and practical advice on choosing the right fair and planning your stand.

Trade fairs have become more specialised, more international and more results-driven. For many companies, exhibiting is no longer about simply being present: it is about packing into a few days meetings with clients, distributors, investors, specifiers and suppliers that would otherwise take months of sales work. Spain’s network of venues, the connectivity of Barcelona and Madrid and the country’s ability to attract congresses make it one of Europe’s leading trade fair destinations.

Spain’s trade fair market keeps growing

Figures from the Spanish Trade Fair Association (AFE) show a clear upward trend. In 2025 Spain hosted 472 trade fairs and events with commercial exhibition, up from 445 in 2024. They drew 64,236 exhibitors (+6.9%), while visitor numbers rose 9.8% to 6.8 million. Net exhibition space occupied exceeded four million square metres.

The impact reaches well beyond the venues. According to AFE, the Spanish trade fair sector generated an economic impact of €13.6 billion, contributed €6.9 billion to GDP and supported 124,400 direct and indirect jobs. Hotels, restaurants, transport, stand builders, AV, logistics, advertising and print production all form part of the value chain around each event.

These numbers confirm that trade fairs remain a first-rate sales tool. Quality of visitor is increasingly valued over sheer volume: exhibitors are looking for decision-makers, technical profiles, international buyers and contacts with real capacity to start a collaboration.

Trade fairs in Spain 2027 outlook: chart of the growth in fairs, exhibitors and visitors

Outlook for 2027

AFE’s outlook is positive, although there is no closed official forecast for every indicator. As a purely illustrative exercise, if 2025’s growth rates were repeated for one more year, Spain would be close to 500 fairs, 68,700 exhibitors and 7.5 million visitors. That is a continuity scenario, not an official figure. Growth will not be even: events that combine innovation, specialist knowledge, international buyers and product demonstrations have the best prospects. Health, pharma, biotech, nutrition, medtech, food, tourism, connectivity, AV, energy and sustainability are among the areas with the greatest potential.

The main venues: Fira Barcelona and IFEMA Madrid

Fira Barcelona operates two venues. Gran Via, in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, hosts the large international shows (MWC, ISE, ICE, Seafood Expo Global, Vitafoods Europe, Alimentaria, Smart City Expo). Montjuïc, at the foot of the hill in the city centre, hosts mid-size and consumer events. IFEMA MADRID, next to Madrid-Barajas airport, hosts FITUR, Fruit Attraction, HIP and many other sector fairs. Beyond the two big cities, the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BIEMH), Feria Valencia and IFEVI in Vigo (Conxemar) are important for specific industries.

We are based in Barcelona, with our own 2,000 m² workshop and installation crew, and build stands at both venues. See our pages on stand build-up in Barcelona and stand design in Madrid.

Two big names are not on the 2027 list because they are biennial: Alimentaria (food and beverage, Fira Gran Via) held its last edition in 2026, and BIEMH (machine tools, Bilbao) also took place in 2026; both are expected back in 2028. Dates can change, so always confirm on the organiser’s website before booking space, travel or hotels. You will find all the shows we work on in our trade fairs directory.

Health and pharma: one of the big growth drivers

The healthcare sector is particularly well suited to trade fairs. It is regulated, technical and built on trust. Buyers need to meet suppliers, compare solutions and resolve clinical, scientific or regulatory questions, so face-to-face contact keeps its value. The ecosystem has also widened: alongside medicines there is strong growth in food supplements, functional nutrition, biotech, medical devices, digital health, diagnostics, self-care, dermocosmetics and pharmacy services. That diversity creates opportunities for laboratories, manufacturers, distributors, packaging firms, ingredient suppliers and tech companies. See our pharmaceutical exhibition stands.

Vitafoods Europe: the rise of nutraceuticals

Vitafoods Europe is one of the clearest examples of growth in health-related fairs. After more than two decades in Geneva, it moved to Barcelona in 2025. Its first edition at Fira Barcelona drew around 25,500 attendees and 1,400 exhibitors, the largest edition to date. For 2026 the organiser planned an expansion, and the final figures put attendance at 26,767 professionals and more than 1,500 exhibitors, another record. The 2027 edition runs on 18–20 May at Fira Barcelona Gran Via.

Its growth reflects changes in consumers and industry: functional ingredients, probiotics, proteins, healthy ageing, cognitive health, sports nutrition, immunity, natural extracts, contract manufacturing and private label. We have built stands at Vitafoods for Lubrizol, Hausmann and Sirio.

Infarma: the gateway to community pharmacy

Infarma is one of the most important events for reaching the pharmacy channel in Spain. It combines a commercial exhibition and a professional congress, bringing together laboratories, distributors, dermocosmetics, OTC, self-care, supplements, services and technology companies. The organiser’s published figures for a recent edition show more than 27,177 visitors, 10,949 pharmacists, 5,839 pharmacies represented and over 300 exhibitors, with growth of 22% and more than 80% of exhibitors returning. Infarma alternates between Madrid and Barcelona; the 2027 edition takes place on 16–18 March at Fira Barcelona Gran Via. Our stand for Arquia Banca at Infarma is a good example of a financial brand addressing pharmacists.

CPHI: the global pharma supply chain

CPHI Europe is one of the world’s largest platforms for the pharmaceutical supply chain: ingredients, contract manufacturing, machinery, packaging, bioproduction, finished products, logistics and services. Its European host city rotates, so it is not a permanent Spanish fair. Barcelona hosted CPHI Europe in 2023, with pre-show documentation anticipating more than 40,000 attendees and over 1,800 exhibiting companies. Check the organiser’s website for the 2027 host city; we build CPHI stands wherever the show goes in Europe.

Other health fairs to watch

BIOSPAIN is a reference for biotech, investment and licensing deals; its 2025 edition set records with around 2,400 attendees, 287 exhibitors and thousands of one-to-one meetings. Expodental, at IFEMA Madrid, gathered more than 400 direct exhibitors and over 30,000 professionals in 2026, confirming the interest in clinical digitalisation, equipment, implantology and diagnostics. Farmaforum, also at IFEMA, completes the calendar for companies in pharmaceutical manufacturing, laboratories, biotech, cosmetics, industrial processes, cleanrooms, logistics and packaging, with a concentrated, specialist B2B audience.

The big international shows

Spain also hosts events that mobilise global audiences. MWC Barcelona exceeded 105,000 attendees in 2026, with around 2,900 exhibitors, sponsors and partners from 207 countries and territories; we have built MWC stands for Tech Data and Iquall Networks. ISE, the audiovisual and systems integration show, also recorded a record edition in Barcelona. See our technology exhibition stands.

Food and drink is equally strong: Alimentaria and Hostelco brought together more than 109,600 visitors and 3,300 companies in 2026, and Seafood Expo Global makes Barcelona the world’s meeting point for the seafood trade every April. Fruit Attraction in Madrid and Conxemar in Vigo complete the picture for fresh produce and frozen seafood; we have built stands there for Fripozo and Haciendas Bio. More on our food exhibition stands.

FITUR in focus

FITUR, the International Tourism Trade Fair at IFEMA Madrid, is one of the world’s leading tourism events, with more than 255,000 attendees and over 10,000 participating companies in its recent edition. National and regional tourism boards, hotel groups, airlines, tour operators and travel technology firms use it to sign agreements and launch campaigns. The 2027 edition, its 47th, runs on 20–24 January: the first three days are reserved for trade visitors and the weekend opens to the public. Stands at FITUR are often large pavilions for destinations, which need strong storytelling, multilingual staff and hospitality areas for meetings. See our FITUR stand design page.

How to choose which fair to exhibit at

The best fair is not necessarily the one with the most visitors, but the one that concentrates the right audience. Weigh up:

  • Visitor profile: buyers, specifiers or end users? Check the organiser’s audited visitor data.
  • International reach: the share of foreign visitors and the countries they come from.
  • Competition: who else exhibits, and where they are in the hall.
  • Total cost: space, stand, services, travel, hotels and staff time.
  • Meeting potential: matchmaking programmes and hosted buyer schemes.
  • Fit with your objectives: launching a product, finding distributors or meeting existing clients.

Preparation is just as important. Results depend on stand design, pre-show communication, the sales agenda, demonstrations, staff training and follow-up. In pharma, health or nutrition, the stand must convey trust, innovation and rigour: the layout should support conversations, show products and provide meeting areas, while AV, lighting and graphics reinforce the brand without obscuring the message.

Lead times: when to book and when to brief your stand builder

Space at the major Spanish fairs is usually allocated many months ahead, often with priority for returning exhibitors, so contact the organiser as soon as you decide to take part. For the stand itself, ideally start 3–4 months before the show. That leaves time for design, plan approval by the organiser, production and logistics. Urgent projects can be handled with less margin. For budgets, read our guide to exhibition stand costs in Spain and use our exhibition stand planning checklist.

Frequently asked questions about trade fairs in Spain

What are the biggest trade fairs in Spain in 2027?

By international reach, the leading 2027 shows include MWC Barcelona (1–4 March), ISE (2–5 February), FITUR (20–24 January), ICE Barcelona (18–20 January), Seafood Expo Global (20–22 April) and Vitafoods Europe (18–20 May). Fruit Attraction and Smart City Expo World Congress are also major events, with 2027 dates still to be confirmed at the time of writing.

Which are the main exhibition centres in Spain?

Fira Barcelona (Gran Via and Montjuïc) and IFEMA MADRID are the two largest. Other important venues include the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, Feria Valencia and IFEVI in Vigo.

Is Alimentaria held in 2027?

No. Alimentaria is biennial; its last edition was in 2026 and the next is expected in 2028 at Fira Barcelona Gran Via. In odd years, food exhibitors in Spain often look at Seafood Expo Global, Fruit Attraction, Conxemar or HIP.

How early should I book a stand for a Spanish trade fair?

Book the space with the organiser as early as possible, as the major fairs fill up and often prioritise returning exhibitors. Brief your stand builder ideally 3–4 months before the show.

Can a foreign company work with a Spanish stand builder?

Yes. A local stand builder knows the venue rules, deadlines and suppliers, can produce the stand close to the venue and handles build-up and dismantling on site. We work with international exhibitors in English, with one project manager and clear invoicing.

How much does a stand at a Spanish trade fair cost?

As a guide, a basic modular stand costs from €3,000–6,000, a mid-size custom stand €20,000–30,000, and premium stands for major international fairs can exceed €100,000. Floor space is paid separately to the organiser.
